Yesterday’s challenging conditions continued on Aarhus Bay on Day 3 of the 2026 ILCA 4 Youth World Championship. Strong westerly winds remained throughout the day, averaging 24–25 knots, with gusts reaching 30–35 knots. At 10:30, the AP flag was raised, postponing all races.
The fleet remained on standby in the boat park, where sailors checked equipment, spoke with coaches and waited for updates. After yesterday’s demanding day on the water, the enforced pause also gave the competitors an opportunity to recover and prepare for the final day of the Qualifying Series.
At 16:45, the Race Committee displayed AP over A, officially bringing the day’s programme to an end without any races completed.
“We monitored the conditions closely throughout the day, but the combination of strong sustained winds and gusts of up to 35 knots did not provide a safe and stable window for racing,” said Principal Race Officer Manel Llige.
“Our priority is to deliver fair racing while protecting the sailors and everyone working on the water,” he continued.

He added that the Race Committee will continue to monitor the conditions closely and adjust the schedule if necessary. As of now, three races are planned for tomorrow, consisting of the two originally scheduled races and one additional race.
“Tomorrow, we will aim to complete three races and conclude the Qualifying Series ahead of the fleet split and the start of the Final Series on Saturday.”
With no racing completed today, the overall standings remain unchanged. Sweden’s Adele Ramm-Ericson continues to lead the ILCA 4 Girls fleet, with Blanca Ferrando Babe from Spain in second place and Gabriela Mascarenhas from the USA in third.

In the boys’ fleet, Alexander Montagu of the USA remains at the top of the ILCA 4 Boys standings, with Leo Gosling from Switzerland and Michail Akalestos from Greece in second and third place, respectively.
Although there was no racing, the day ended on a more social note with the championship’s Mid-Week Dinner. Sailors, coaches, officials and volunteers came together for a shared meal, with giveaways from Helly Hansen adding to the evening. It was a welcome opportunity to relax and enjoy the international atmosphere before attention returns to racing tomorrow.
The first race tomorrow is scheduled to begin at 11:00.
