Steady Winds and Growing Excitement as Registration Nears Completion in Aarhus

2026 ILCA 4 Youth World Championships report

Registration and equipment inspection continued at Aarhus International Sailing Center today as more sailors arrived for the 2026 ILCA 4 Youth World Championships.

The inspection process ran smoothly throughout the day, with the team staying ahead of schedule for most of the programme. By late afternoon, approximately 394 sailors had completed equipment inspection, while 367 competitors had officially registered for the championships.

The steady wind on Aarhus Bay gave the sailors plenty of opportunity to train throughout the day. Teams were on the water from the morning, using the conditions to get to know the race area and make their final preparations before the official programme begins.

Back ashore, the boat park continued to fill with sailors, coaches and team officials from more than 50 nations. With most competitors now on site, there was a clear sense of excitement around the venue. The sailors appeared in good spirits, with plenty of smiles and laughter, although a few nerves were also beginning to show – especially among those preparing for their first ILCA 4 Youth World Championships.

Sunny weather, temperatures of around 20 degrees Celsius and fresh breezes helped create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere throughout the day, both in the boat park and around the sailing center.

Registration and equipment inspection will conclude tomorrow morning. The official Practice Race is scheduled for 14:00, followed by the Opening Ceremony at 18:00.
