The 2026 ILCA 6 Master World Championships are about to get underway tomorrow in Athens, Greece, bringing together 159 sailors from 24 countries for one of the most anticipated Masters events of the year.
Organised by the Nautical Club of Kalamaki as host club together with the ILCA Class Association, the championship will feature a strong and diverse international fleet across all Masters categories.
The fleet includes:
- 18 Apprentice Masters
- 20 Masters
- 48 Grand Masters
- 52 Great Grand Masters — the largest fleet of the championship
- 18 Legend sailors (75–84 years old)
- 3 Super Legend sailors (+85)
The Super Legend category will make its debut at a World Championship following its recent introduction by the ILCA Class, further consolidating the ILCA as a true whole-life sailing class, welcoming competition across generations. The event will also feature 26 women sailors competing across the fleet.
The championship begins with two days of registration and equipment inspection, followed by the Opening Ceremony on Sunday evening.
Racing is scheduled from Monday, June 1st through Sunday, June 7th, with a Reserve/Rest Day planned for June 4th.
